Meet our team
Bardene Thirion
Founder
Bardene is the founder of HB Trained and is responsible for the development of Afrikaans and English learning materials, proofreading and editing of learning materials and quality control. She has been a language educator for many years and has also has written textbooks for English FAL and learning materials for the paper and glass industry. Throughout the years she has been involved in teaching, tutoring and designing learning materials.
Gawie Thirion
IT Operations & Web Development
Gawie is responsible for the development of our website, all IT Operations, marketing and the management of hbtrained.com. He is a dedicated IT professional driven by a focus on solving complex problems and creating secure, high-performing digital environments. He is currently pursuing a BSc degree in Information Technology (Network and Security Engineering).
Sarie Roux
Content writer: Afrikaans EAT Gr. 10-12
Sarie has an extensive background in education, specializing in Afrikaans language instruction and curriculum development. She has served as a teacher, lecturer, examiner, and author, contributing significantly to Afrikaans education. With multiple degrees, including an M.A. (Cum Laude) in Afrikaans-Nederlands, she has held key academic positions and co-authored numerous educational materials.
Jennifer Steyn

Jennifer is an experienced educator, examiner, and language specialist with extensive expertise in English language education and journalism. She is passionate about fostering academic excellence and supporting learners and teachers in achieving their goals.
Dr Cynthia Job

Cynthia is a qualified teacher, librarian and remedial teaching specialist. She is an English tutor, English learning material developer and editor at HB Trained.

Julie is a highly experienced educator and administrator with a strong background in teaching, academic leadership, and educational technology. Her expertise spans across teaching English, Mathematics, and Sciences, as well as leadership roles in faculty management and executive assistance.
